ReardonSmith Gains Consent for the Extension and Interior Enhancement of the Beaumont Hotel

A redevelopment behind a retained façade in Providence Court, Mayfair has been granted planning consent by Westminster City Council. Situated at the back of the Beaumont Hotel, the scheme will increase the number of guestrooms and add further public areas to the hotel in the heart of Westminster. This new addition, in tandem with previously approved internal changes to the Beaumont Hotel, forms a major upgrade of this very successful operation for the new owners.

The proposals, originally conceived by ReardonSmith to optimise the  site environs for the Grosvenor Estate in 2018 , involves a façade retention, re-instatement of the original 1925 Providence Court design and the erection of the new 7 storey building (basement, ground and 5 upper storeys). It will provide 29 additional guestrooms, additional meeting rooms on the Ground Floor and back of house areas in the basement. Internally, the Beaumont Hotel’s corridors will be seamlessly  linked at every level to the new 2 Providence Court accommodation.

The front façade has been developed having high regard to the special character of this zone of the Mayfair Conservation Area. It is mainly red brick in Flemish bond, steel windows and stucco. The same materials are used on all rear elevations so as to provide a harmonious and consistent character to the entire extension.

“We are really proud to be part of this particular project as it allows us to be involved in the ongoing evolution of the Beaumont Hotel that we helped to create many years ago as the architects of the original scheme. This building does have a very special place in our hearts” says Project Architect, Rafal Pasek.

This development forms the next stage of a series of carefully considered improvements that the Hotel is about to receive. ReardonSmith are also involved in the enhancement of all public areas within the existing Beaumont Hotel. The interior design has been provided by The Office of Thierry Despont who are also involved in the Providence Court extension described above. These works will be completed shortly and the Hotel will re-open to public in August 2021 while the new wing is being developed.

ReardonSmith also helped secure Planning Consent for the works to the improve the  landscape of the  the existing Forecourt which will include outside seating with planting and retractable awnings.
