Part of the high-profile One Nine Elms development on the banks of the Thames, the Wanda Vista Hotel is being created within one of the two towers designed by KPF. Occupying all five podium storeys and levels six to 18 as well as two basements within the smaller tower, the hotel will be characterised by huge volumes in the public areas, which are accommodated within the podium, and a highly efficient plan for the bedroom floors above. ReardonSmith has been tasked with the operational planning of the hotel to achieve a five-star standard. This has involved the rationalisation of spaces, the re-configuration of circulation areas where possible and schemes to deliver the best possible mix of function facilities. There will be 170 guestrooms and three presidential suites. A destination restaurant has been planned for the hotel’s top floor with a sky bar below; there will be a gymnasium, spa and swimming pool, a large ballroom, numerous meeting rooms and a choice of wining and dining venues. At street level, the hotel is being planned to offer a lively amenity for the neighbourhood. Interior design is being handled by the Hotel Design Institute.
